Parking lamp product information

All vehicles have to have a number of different lights on them to make them legally fit for the road. Lights on a car include the headlamps, the brake lights and parking lights – these are in addition to the interior lighting system. Parking lights are situated on either side of the vehicle, at the front and way below the headlights. These lights are designed to show drivers coming in the opposite direction that you are parking your vehicle, rather than just slowing down. These lights are very useful because they let other drivers know what you are doing and can be used when you are going into intersections or making a turn.  You should be able to turn on your parking lights without using the ignition key.

If any of the lights on your vehicle are not in good working order then you should not be driving as lights that don't work or are not working as they should can lead to road accidents. You need lights so that you can see the road ahead and so that other drivers have some indication of what you are trying to achieve. This is especially important in poor weather conditions where visibility is reduced. The main reason that all car lamps are essential is not so much about seeing as it is about being seen by other drivers. In the UK vehicles are tested every year for their road worthiness, this is known as the MOT test. If your vehicle is not working properly, and this includes the vehicle lighting system then it will fail the test, which will have to be retaken once the required work is done.

Some vehicles have what is known as a parking sensor. The parking sensor is a parking lamp that uses both lights and sound to alert other drivers that you are either parking your car or reversing it. When your parking light is seen by other drivers it signals to them what you are doing, with a parking sensor, the sound means that other drivers who may not be able to see your parking lights will know what you are planning to do. A reverse parking sensor used in addition to the parking sensor is more useful than either a parking lamp or a parking sensor alone. When you are reversing towards unseen objects, when you are a certain distance closer to those objects the sensor will alert you that there is something in your path.

Motor insurance is very expensive and if you install a parking sensor in your vehicle then you may find that some insurance companies will demand lower premiums for drivers who take this extra safety measure. The parking sensor and the reverse parking sensor are probably the best guides a driver can have when parking, because they will sound the alarm wherever there are obstacles in your path.

The fact that you could save on your insurance premiums is a good reason to have a parking sensor and a reverse parking sensor. When you purchase a parking sensor and reverse parking sensor in one you will save yourself some more money.

Clearly parking lamps (or side lights as they are often called in the UK) are necessary when it comes to safe driving, this is because the parking lamp and the parking sensor will make you visible to other drivers and signal to them your intentions.
